There is limited space on your boat, making storage a key commodity. With a few tricks, you can maximize your boat storage and bring along everything you need for an enjoyable voyage.

We've gathered up the following boat organization tips. If you have questions or want to shop boats for sale, contact Barry Jay's and Rainbow Marine. Our dealership is based in Edmonton, Alberta, and we also serve those in Sherwood Park.

Get Stowable Tables

It's helpful to have surfaces on your boat for dining, playing games, and other activities. But a table large enough for your group can take up too much space. Enter: stowable tables! These provide the surface area when you need it, but can be folded down and stored when you don't.

Add Hooks Throughout Your Boat

Any easy way to boost your boat's storage is taking advantage of vertical storage space. Add hooks for storing wet towels, hats, backpacks, and so on. Hooks can be placed in many areas, such as the back of furniture or the side of a cabinet.

Get Storage Ottomans

Enjoy storage space and seating space in one piece of furniture. Storage ottomans are a great way to get double the utility out of one item. Similar approaches are dock boxes and soft-sided canvas bags.

Store Blankets In Pillows

Pillows and blankets add to the comfort of a boat ride, but they can also take up a decent amount of space. Try storing the blankets inside the pillows! Take the stuffing out of the pillow and place the blanket inside. When you need a pillow, for decoration or for back support, it's all ready to go. When you want a blanket, simply remove it.

Get A Multi-Tool

There are many useful tools that you will want onboard your boat. But storing several tools isn't ideal. A better approach is to get a multi-tool. This will give you access to the items you need, but in a way that takes up minimal space. A reliable multi-tool will often come with a screwdriver, knife, hex wrench, and bottle opener.

Bring Only The Necessities

Our last boat storage tip is to be selective about what you bring onboard. It's amazing how quickly a boat can get overrun with clutter! Storage spaces can get packed full with duplicate items, expired sunscreen, and "just in case" items that are never needed. Limit the items you pack and regularly go through your boat's storage space, removing items that really don't need to be there.
