The Lund® legacy began with a single aluminum duck boat, designed and built from scratch by company founder G. Howard Lund in 1948. The unique craftsmanship of this prototype attracted the attention of a salesman from Inland Marine Corporation, who encouraged Lund to go into business. Even as Lund’s designs went into mass production, each unit displayed the same level of quality and attention to detail as that original duck boat.

 

Their first product line was an instant success. The continuing growth of the company led them to reincorporate in 1961 as Lund Metal Craft, Inc. Fiberglass fishing boats joined the lineup at this stage, and sport boats were soon to follow, with the buyout of the Shell Lake Boat Company.
